For a girl like me who's obsessed with pink, there's no better month of the year than October. Not only do I love seeing things transform to my favorite color, but also being able to raise awareness for the important cause that pink stands for, Breast Cancer.
Most people have been affected by the horrible disease, Breast Cancer, in one way or another. The cause alone is enough to make even those who haven't been affected want to help.
One of my favorite ways awareness is raised for Breast Cancer in the Grand Strand is the Women in Business edition of Grand Strand Magazine.
Every October, Grand Strand Magazine does a special Women in Business edition, where a portion of the proceeds are donated to Caring in Our Lifetime, a local non-profit that assists women and men in our area who have breast cancer.
This year, Carolina Trust was the presenting sponsor of the Women in Business edition, with a special feature of our ladies in Senior and Executive Management, as well as the Women in Business luncheon. At the luncheon, Grand Strand Magazine presented Caring In Our Lifetime with a portion of the magazine's proceeds.
Caring In Our Lifetimes is a non-profit organization that provides financial assistance with medical expenses to individuals in Horry and Georgetown counties affected by breast cancer. Caring in Our Lifetime was founded in 1997 as a means for the sales staff at Time Warner Cable in Myrtle Beach, SC, to assist one of its former co-workers diagnosed with breast cancer.
After the first year, Caring In Our Lifetime breast cancer charity auction was officially formed to assist local breast cancer survivors with financial needs. The effort has continued annually to help many more survivors with their medical bills related to breast cancer.

As an additional way to raise awareness, Carolina Trust employees will wear pink ribbons and attire during October.
