Ways to Get Into the Spooky Spirit in Halloween, SC

Written by August | Oct 20, 2022 9:16:17 PM

With Halloween a little over a week away, we're running out of time to do all the fun Halloween activities. Luckily, the City of Conway, or should I say Halloween, has a little bit of everything for folks to enjoy.

For the past few years, the City of Conway has gotten pretty festive around Halloween; they've hung pumpkins in the trees, held ghost walks, and had a great pumpkin patch at the Methodist church. However, this year they've decided to crank it up a notch.

During a press conference on September 23, Conway Mayor, Barbara Blain-Bellamy, signed a proclamation that marked the city's unofficial, temporary renaming from Conway, SC, to Halloween, SC. The unofficial name change is part of the city's efforts to boost tourism and economic development during the fall season.

In addition to the fall activities and events that have already been going on in the city for the past few years, they've added several new ones: a golf cart parade, a spooky boat tour, and even more fall décor. Check out the overview and links below for additional info on Halloween, SC, and the events going on from now until Halloween night.

Décor

Take a walk around the city of Conway, and you will find several different spots that'll get you into the Halloween spirit and are perfect for a spooky photo op.

  • Pumpkins in the Trees on Main Street
  • Cobb Web Arch and Witches Hats on the left side of City Hall
  • Fall Hay Bales, Pumpkins, and Breast Cancer Ribbon on the right side of City Hall and the City Plaza on Laurel Street

  • Skeletons on the bench in front of Acorn Studio
  • Pumpkin Arch at Kingston Park

Pumpkin Patch

First United Methodist Church on 5th Ave. has one of the best pumpkin patches around. Not only do they have a fantastic selection, but they restock their patch all season long!

Ghost Walk

The Conway Ghost Walk travels through the Historic Downtown to the Riverwalk with storytellers sharing tales that are always spooky, sometimes humorous, and guaranteed to become part of your family's Halloween tradition.

Spooky Boat Tour

Waccamaw Outfitter at the Conway Marina offers Spooky Bout Tours of the Waccamaw River on Mondays and Wednesdays until Halloween.

Halloween Golf Cart Parade

The Halloween Golf Cart Parade is Saturday, October 29, at 11 AM in Downtown Conway. The Parade will begin at the Conway Public Safety Building on 9th Avenue, then continue down 9th Avenue to Laurel Street and follows Laurel Street into Downtown Conway ending at Elm Street.
