Happy Fall Y'all: A Guide To Getting Into The Fall Spirit

Written by August | Sep 25, 2020 4:35:42 PM

Can you believe it is already fall? It seems like summer just flew by. As much as I love summer, I am ready for cooler weather and fun fall festivities. Growing up in the mountains in Virginia, I always loved watching the leaves change colors each fall. Although the scenery doesn't change as drastically here in South Carolina, there are still lots of other ways to get into the fall spirit.

Fall Décor

It truly doesn't feel like fall at my house until I have put up my fall décor. Fall is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for. There's just something about adding pumpkins, mums, and knitted throw blankets that gives my house an extra level of coziness. Some of my favorite places to snag fall décor are Home Goods, Michaels, Kirkland's, and Hobby Lobby. I try to pre-plan when to buy my décor based on when they're having a good sale. Currently, Michaels is running a 50% sale on all fall décor through 9/26, which means its the perfect time for me to stock up on fall florals and pumpkins!

Football

In the south, fall and football season are one and the same. With the late start of the season and limited fan attendance due to the pandemic, College and High School football looks slightly different this year. Fans may not be able to tailgate or enjoy the game from the stadium this year, but there is definitely no lack of team spirit. And think on the bright side, at least this year you won't have to spend the extra money on tickets, parking, and up-charged stadium snacks.

It Wouldn't Be Fall Without  Pumpkin Spice

Call me basic if you must, but there's truly no way to celebrate fall like adding a little pumpkin spice. However, stopping at Dunkin' or Starbucks every single morning can really break the bank. I still like to treat myself every now and again, but have found the perfect at-home recipe for a pumpkin spice cold foam cold brew. Click here to check it out!

Pumpkin Pickin'

There are so many great activities that you can do as a family during the fall season. One of my favorite family activities growing up was selecting the perfect pumpkin and getting to carve it. My family would go to our local pumpkin patch (or Walmart, because let's be honest, sometimes our schedules got a little crazy) and pick out the perfect pumpkin. We typically selected our pumpkin based on the carving idea that we had in mind. We would do scary jack-o-lantern faces some years, while other years, we painted our pumpkins with a unique design. No matter which option we chose, it was great to spend time together as a family doing an activity that put us into the fall spirit. Here's a list of a few pumpkin patches in the area; some even have corn mazes, hayrides, and other fall activities where you can make a whole day fall day out of it!

No matter how you get into the fall spirit, I hope this season is one where you spend time with those you love and make lots of wonderful memories. Happy Fall, Y'all!
