Tips for Decorating Your Home for Fall with Thrifted Pieces

Decorating my home for each season is one of my favorite things to get me into the spirit of the upcoming seasonal activities. Fall, in particular, is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for because it gives such warm and cozy vibes.
However, incorporating new seasonal styles and décor pieces into your home at each season change can be expensive. And, of course, with styles changing all the time, last year's trends are rarely still in style, making you feel like you have to go out and buy more to keep up.
This year, I decided to try decorating my home for fall with easy-to-find items from local thrift stores. In doing so, I found great pieces that can be reused each year and for multiple seasons, depending on how I style and mix and match them. Below are some of the items that I was on the hunt for:

Hard Back Books

Books make perfect fall décor because they give off such cozy Gilmore Girl vibes. They're also very multi-purposeful. By putting together books with different colored covers, you can fit them into the décor of any theme. They are also good for stacking and creating height variances in your displays.

Items of Different Materials of Textures

Pairing pieces with different textures is a great way to add warmth and character to your home. I often look for unique metal, wooden, or woven pieces that can be displayed in my home during any season, depending on what I pair them with. These pieces give your home a sense of individuality and are great year-round items that make it easy to add in pops of color or seasonal décor to finish off the look.

Thrifted Seasonal Décor

Speaking of adding in pops of color or seasonal décor, the thrift store is the perfect place to look. When people pull their seasonal décor down from the attic and start decorating their homes each year, they typically donate items that are no longer their style, which makes the seasonal transition periods the perfect time to swing by the thrift store and scoop those items up. You know what they say: one man's trash is another man's treasure.

Another bright side to getting seasonal decor from a thrift store is that it's typically cheaper, so if it's not the EXACT style or color you're looking for, you can typically grab a can of spray paint and adjust it for less than what you'd pay at a regular department store for something similar.
