Back-to-School magic is in the air. August is here, the stores have started stocking their shelves with school supplies, and teachers are holding on tight to their last few days of summer.
For most, heading back to school is an exciting time; however, for some folks, it causes lots of added financial stress. The start of a new school year requires money for school supplies, lunch, after-school childcare, etc. Many people in our area live paycheck to paycheck and don't have additional funds for these things, which is why back-to-school drives are so helpful. By donating to back-to-school drives, you're able to provide children in our area with the supplies they need to excel in the classroom. Below are several local back-to-school drives and the items they're requesting for donation.
As a reminder, this weekend is tax-free weekend, which is the perfect time to grab school supplies and save a few dollars. Check out my recent blog post if you're looking for tips to shop tax-free weekend like a pro.

I have a teacher friend who said that many local schools accept supplies directly. So, if you'd like to donate directly to a school near you, I'd encourage you to call and see what supplies they typically need the most.
