Everything you need to know about the Waccamaw Sportsmen's Expo

Posted by August on Mar 23, 2023 11:28:03 AM

This weekend is the 2nd Annual Waccamaw Sportsmen's Expo in Downtown Conway. The Expo focuses on the outdoor lifestyle along the banks of the Waccamaw River.

The event kicks off on Friday, March 24, as DockDogs bring their high-flying competition to Conway's Town Green at 200 Laurel Street. On Saturday, March 25, the DockDogs events continue all day, and the full Expo opens at the Conway Marina at 4 Elm Street. Saturday's busy schedule of activities includes vendors, music, cooking demonstrations, a reptile program, an outdoor quick draw event, a wildlife rehabilitation session, and much more.

As a self-proclaimed "SportsWOMAN," I'm super excited about the event and wanted to give you all tips to navigate it if you decide to attend.

When to Arrive

Eat a good breakfast and show up bright and early on Saturday morning. Not only is the weather calling for afternoon showers, but you'll get to be one of the first people to see all the vendors and have first-pick on their merchandise.

What to See

The DockDogs is a must-see event, especially if you've never seen them before. You can tell it is a true passion for these animals as you watch the dogs leap into the air to retrieve, like they were bred to do.

There will also be many great vendors selling different outdoor-related merchandise and others there to talk about their amazing local services. Be sure to stop by and see me and the Baker's Wildlife Solutions tent!

What to Bring

Bands and demonstrations at the Marina Stage will be suited for any sportsman, so bring a lawn chair to set up and watch. As I mentioned, they are calling for a slight chance of rain, so bring a raincoat and umbrella.

Also, you'll want to bring an empty stomach or do lots of walking to work off your breakfast because there will be tons of fantastic food vendors that you'll definitely want to try.
