ArtFields is officially back for 2026, and if you’ve been before, you already know it’s one of those events you look forward to all year. If you haven’t, this is your sign to go ahead and plan a visit. This year’s festival is bigger than ever, running from April 10 through May 2, 2026, giving you even more time to experience everything Lake City has to offer.

What Is ArtFields?

ArtFields isn’t your typical art show—it’s an entire town transformed into a walkable gallery. Hundreds of works from artists across the Southeast are displayed throughout downtown Lake City in places you wouldn’t expect, from boutiques and restaurants to galleries and public spaces.

With over 400 works of art and 40+ venues, you can spend hours (or even multiple days) exploring and still feel like you’ve only scratched the surface.

What’s New for 2026

One of the biggest updates this year is the extended schedule. ArtFields now spans nearly a full month, which means more flexibility when planning your visit and a chance to experience the festival at your own pace.

Another important detail to keep in mind is that official festival venues are open Tuesday through Saturday and closed on Sundays and Mondays, so planning ahead will make your visit much smoother.

There are also more events woven throughout the festival, including markets, competitions, live experiences, and community gatherings that bring even more energy to downtown.

When to Visit

The timing of your visit can completely change your experience. Opening and closing weekends tend to have the most energy, with live music, larger crowds, and a more festival-like atmosphere. If you prefer something a little slower and more relaxed, visiting during the middle weeks or weekdays gives you more space to take your time and really enjoy the art.

There’s no wrong time to go—it just depends on the pace you’re looking for.

What to Expect When You’re There

Once you arrive, the best thing to do is simply start walking. The entire downtown area becomes an immersive experience where art is integrated into everyday spaces, making it feel approachable and engaging rather than formal. You can vote for your favorite pieces as you go, which adds an interactive element and makes you feel like part of the event.

Beyond the artwork itself, you’ll also find food trucks, local restaurants, and pop-up events happening throughout the festival, making it easy to turn your visit into a full day or even a weekend trip.

Don’t Miss What’s Nearby

If you’re planning to spend more time in the area, it’s worth adding a stop at Moore Farms Botanical Garden, located just a few miles from downtown. During ArtFields, the gardens are in peak spring bloom and offer a quieter, more relaxed experience to balance out the energy of the festival.

They also host seasonal events like plant sales and evening experiences, which can easily be added into your trip.

Plan Ahead for the Best Experience

Because ArtFields has grown so much, planning ahead can make a big difference. Booking accommodations early is recommended, especially if you’re visiting on a weekend, and taking a few minutes to review maps or event schedules beforehand can help you make the most of your time.

Even with a plan, though, part of the charm is allowing yourself to wander and discover things along the way.

ArtFields is more than just an art festival—it’s a full experience that brings together creativity, community, and small-town charm in a way that feels unique to Lake City. Whether you go for a few hours or make a weekend out of it, it’s one of those events that feels easy to enjoy and worth coming back to year after year.

And with more time, more art, and more to explore in 2026, there’s really no better excuse to go.
